Information About The Camping Ground
Cobb and Co Nine Mile Camping Grounds is 50 lush acres situated on the Six Mile Creek just south of Gympie.
This HISTORIC location is the site of the old Cobb and Co Horse Change Stables. It was the first stop on the stage coach run from Gympie to Noosa which ran from 1878.
Down the creek are the remains of the old bridge that serviced the bullock teams, railroad workers, bridge builders and where the train passengers disembarked to catch the stage coach to Noosa and then by steamship (The Gulgoa) to Brisbane.
Close by is the site of Queensland’s worst train de-railment, the Rocky Mail Train disaster where 10 people lost their lives in 1925.
The fresh air and the country surrounds invites activity. You may want to canoe on the billabong (you will need to provide your own canoe or kyak), bike on the bike tracks or explore the surrounds, or walk down to the Six Mile Creek and spot the platypus, the birdlife or fish for yellow belly.
There is a playground for the children with Fort and Slides, Pirate ship, BMX track, Flying foxes, Walking tracks and Billabong for swimming or kyaking.
There is so much you can do. You may want to have a game of cricket or kick the footy.
Cobb and Co Nine Mile Camping Grounds is a place where you can have your next school camp.
